Learning Objectives

  • Define Psychology

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior. It explores how people think, feel, and act, both individually and in groups. Psychologists seek to understand mental processes, emotions, perception, cognition, and the factors that influence human behavior, such as social, biological, and environmental factors.

Did you know?

The word “psychology” comes from the Greek words psyche (meaning “soul” or “mind”) and logos (meaning “study” or “discourse”). So, psychology literally means the study of the soul or mind. Over time, the term evolved to refer to the scientific study of the mind, behavior, and mental processes.
