About the Author

Linglin (Niki) Liu is originally from China. She came to the United States as an international student and pursued her academic journey in mathematics and computer science. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems and a Master’s degree in Mathematics, both earned at Arkansas State University. Her passion for teaching stems from a deep commitment to helping students develop confidence and mastery in their studies.

Her academic career began as a Graduate Assistant at Arkansas State University. After graduation, she served as a Mathematics faculty member at the University of Louisiana at Monroe for three years, where she taught and mentored students from diverse backgrounds. Also, she taught at Southern New Hampshire University, where she further expanded her expertise in accessible and engaging distance education.

Currently, she serves as a faculty member at Palo Alto College, part of the Alamo Colleges District in San Antonio, Texas. In this role, she prioritizes fostering an inclusive, student-centered learning environment. Having navigated higher education as an international student herself, she is particularly attuned to the challenges faced by underrepresented groups. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in making mathematics more approachable and equitable for all learners. She can be reached at lliu10@alamo.edu.
