1.1 Course Introduction
Congratulations on continuing your educational journey! The choice to return to college is an exciting one. You are starting a new chapter in your life, and this course will help give you strategies and resources to support your academics at Palo Alto College.
Before starting this course, take a moment to think about what you would like your college experience to look like. What kind of grades do you want to make? How much do you plan to study each week? How will you make connections with students and professors at Palo Alto College? Why is your education important to your success? What changes will you make to ensure your academic success? These questions will all be explored in your Strategies for Success course.
In order to succeed in a marathon, athletes spend hours, days and months in preparation. Your college experience is like that of a dedicated athlete. You will spend time attending class, working on assignments and studying for tests and quizzes. Each of these activities will help grow you into a stronger, more dedicated student. Just like an athlete who is focused on the race finish line, you will be focused on your graduation date. Just imagine your graduation day…walking across the stage confidently knowing you committed to and achieved your goals. What a celebration that will be!
The Strategies for Success course will help you cross the finish line (graduation stage). This course will focus on the following:
- Time Management
- Campus Resources
- Degree Planning
- Learning Styles
We challenge you to take time to reflect each week on the lessons you are learning. Each lesson is applicable to you as a student and to your educational journey. The more time you take to think and reflect on your actions, the more successful you will be. Again, congratulations on taking your step toward success! You have an exciting journey ahead of you!
